Microsoft has announced a major leadership shake-up in Africa and the Middle East. The changes aim to drive regional growth and expand the company’s AI innovation strategy.
Olatomiwa “Ola” Williams, who previously served as Country General Manager for Microsoft Nigeria and Ghana, is now the Chief Growth and AI Officer for Middle East and African Growth Markets.
“This new role will help me bring AI-driven opportunities closer to people across the region,” Williams said at a recent Microsoft event.
Following her appointment, Abideen Yusuf has stepped in as the new General Manager for Microsoft Nigeria and Africa. Yusuf has been instrumental in digital transformation efforts and is known for his work in fostering tech talent across the continent.
These leadership changes reflect Microsoft’s commitment to scaling AI adoption, boosting digital transformation, and nurturing local leadership in emerging markets.
Ola Williams has received widespread recognition for championing women in tech and leading AI skill programs in Nigeria. In 2023, she helped launch a $1 million initiative to train one million Nigerians in AI and cybersecurity by 2026.
Under Yusuf’s leadership, Microsoft is expected to strengthen its support for Africa’s tech ecosystem, promote ethical AI practices, and invest in cloud innovation and education.
