Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele has called for the cancellation of the local government elections in Lagos State.
The former Deputy Governor said the entire process had been compromised and was not credible.
“I couldn’t vote because my polling unit was moved elsewhere and no one informed us,” she told Nigeria Info FM on Saturday.
According to her, many other voters faced the same experience. Several polling units were reportedly moved without prior notice. In some areas, voter names disappeared from the register.
“I have been to my own unit. My name is not there. There are units supposed to be in front of Eko Hotel. They have brought them here to Ajose Adeogun,” she said.
Bucknor-Akerele described the situation as a calculated attempt to suppress participation and influence the outcome in favour of a single party.
Calls Out LASIEC
She accused the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) of aiding the confusion, saying they should be held responsible.
“Many people are not able to vote because they have, in fact, completely disrupted all the polling units,” she said.
“I am calling for the cancellation of this election because there’s a clear effort to rig the election in favour of one party.”
The former Deputy Governor questioned why polling units were disrupted and relocated to wrong places, insisting that it was “deliberate and targeted.”
