Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North) is urging Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State to investigate the actions of the previous governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Recently, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Okpebholo, stating that Asue Ighodalo of the PDP failed to substantiate his allegations of electoral misconduct against him.
During a celebration of this ruling, Oshiomhole, who served as governor prior to Obaseki, urged Okpebholo to investigate a hotel where “Edo state funds amounting to tens of billions of dollars were taken.”
He also noted the need to reassess roads constructed during Obaseki’s administration, which he claims have worsened compared to those he built.
Oshiomhole remarked, “When your Excellency has time for the next rematch, Obaseki will need to emerge from hiding to address those questions.” He highlighted the importance of “rescuing Edo” through an inquiry.
Oshiomhole called on Obaseki to return to Edo, declaring, “I now challenge Obaseki to come to Edo; let us collaborate as former governors. Let us all stroll through the streets of Benin. Let’s determine who has impacted the lives of the people positively or negatively.”
