Former PDP legal adviser, Jacob Mark, has reproached Atiku Abubakar and other PDP members for their association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
During an appearance on Arise Television’s “The Morning Show” on Thursday, Mark labeled them as “window shoppers” who cannot be relied upon.
“Anyone who hasn’t resigned from his political party and is wandering around, today in SDP, tomorrow in ADA, now in ADC, should not be taken seriously,” he remarked.
Mark criticized Atiku for his lack of consistency, charging him with being a political chameleon who frequently shifts parties in pursuit of a presidential nomination.
He emphasized that unless Atiku formally departs from PDP and joins ADC, he won’t regard his aspirations earnestly. Mark asserted, “Until he resigns from the PDP, I will not take him seriously.”
Legal and Political Angles
The former adviser contended it’s unconstitutional for Atiku to seek presidential nominations from both PDP and ADC simultaneously. “You can’t be looking for a presidential ticket in ADC while also seeking one in PDP at the same time. That is prohibited by law,” he stressed.
Mark accused Atiku of creating a perilous precedent for party members, underscoring his previous defections and partnerships.
He reminisced, “It has been going on since around 2009, especially in 2011, when Atiku Abubakar, along with five other governors, exited the PDP convention and forged an alliance with the opposition party.”
Nevertheless, Mark indicated that such actions have consistently gone unpunished, resulting in greater political indiscipline within PDP.
“Individuals come and go as they please, return to receive a presidential ticket, and when it no longer suits them, they depart again,” he remarked.
