Former ADC presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu has launched a scathing attack on political elders rumoured to be positioning themselves to take over the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He described the move as nothing but a desperate comeback attempt by men who failed Nigeria.
Appearing on Politics Today on Channels Television, Kachikwu declared: “These are all former this, former that. Who brought us to this point?”
He said the country doesn’t need “rescuing from these people,” but rather needs to be rescued from them.
“They need to rescue us from themselves,” he fumed.
“I Oppose Viruses and Bacteria in My Party”
Kachikwu said he doesn’t care what role former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may be playing within the ADC.
“I have no knowledge of Atiku’s role in the ADC, and I don’t care about his role in the ADC,” he said.
“I’m opposed to viruses and bacteria coming into my party. I’m opposed to people coming through the back door… who have destroyed Nigeria, saying they’re trying to fix Nigeria.”
He added that most of those meeting to form a so-called opposition coalition were aged and out of touch with Nigeria’s present realities.
“Seventy-five percent of them are over 75 years old, while Nigerian youth are suffering,” he said.
“We need fresh faces, fresh ideas. Not these geriatrics. We don’t need them anymore in this country.”
ADC Has No Chairman, Kachikwu Claims
In a shocking twist, Kachikwu stated the ADC currently has no national chairman, alleging a vacuum in leadership.
“ADC has no chairman. ADC is in a lacuna — in a vacuum. There’s no chairman there,” he declared.
He insisted that despite INEC listing Ralph Nwosu as chairman, Nwosu no longer holds that office in practice.
“We shall be writing and communicating with INEC. If INEC says Ralph Nwosu is the chairman, I will gracefully bow out of the party,” he added.

Nwosu and other party executives had earlier claimed to have resigned to allow a new leadership structure to emerge for the coalition. Kachikwu dismissed this narrative as “fraudulent.”
“There has been no convention. There has been no constitutional change. They’re just making things up,” he said.
When asked if experienced politicians still have something to offer, Kachikwu brushed the idea aside.
“Experience of failure? Experience with no leadership? And experience of no succession?” he asked.
He even took a swipe at Labour Party’s Peter Obi: “Obi was governor for two terms, what’s Anambra saying today?”
“Poverty Has No Tribe”
Kachikwu warned that recycled leaders will keep Nigeria trapped in its suffering.
He urged Nigerians to reject politicians who come with tribal and religious rhetoric while doing nothing about economic despair.
“Suffering has no tribe. Poverty has no religion. Nigerians are united in their suffering,” he said.
“David Mark and his ilk must understand this. They’ve goofed. They cannot bring this into the next election.”
