A New York jury has found music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs not guilty of racketeering and sex-trafficking.
But the Bad Boy Records founder wasn’t fully cleared—he was convicted of transporting Cassie Ventura and an anonymous accuser across state lines for prostitution.
The verdict triggered gasps in the packed courtroom. Diddy’s eyes welled up as the jury foreperson read the partial acquittal aloud.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, immediately urged Judge Arun Subramanian to grant bail. “He is no longer charged with sex trafficking or racketeering,” Agnifilo said. “This is his first conviction—and it’s for prostitution. He should be released.”
Agnifilo offered a $1 million bond, secured by Combs’ family property on Miami’s Star Island. He argued Diddy posed no flight risk, saying, “He does not have access to his plane.”
Combs’ mother, partner Yung Miami, and sons sat behind him, nodding as Agnifilo pressed: “He will appear at every hearing. He just wants to go home tonight.”
But Judge Subramanian ordered him back to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn—at least for now.
Prosecutors Push Back
Assistant U.S. Attorney Maya Klein urged the court to deny bail. She told the judge: “The defendant faces up to twenty years in prison.”
Klein added that Combs tried to evade arrest, had access to drugs and weapons, and had attacked one of the women. “He is a danger to the community and a serious flight risk,” she warned.
Prosecutors also cited his private jets, overseas bank accounts, and luxury yachts. “He can disappear with one phone call,” Klein said.
Observers compared the scene to R. Kelly’s bail denial after his own partial verdict. Despite being cleared of major charges, Diddy’s conviction could still carry serious time.
50 Cent Mocks Verdict as Fans Rally
Soon after the verdict, rapper 50 Cent mocked Diddy on Instagram. “Diddy beat the Rico. That boy a bad man! He like the Gay John Gotti,” he wrote, posting a smirking selfie.
Outside the courthouse, supporters played drums and chanted “Can’t stop, won’t stop!” One woman, wearing a blue wig and lingerie, poured baby oil on herself, referencing Diddy’s infamous “oil parties.”
Police formed a barrier as fans cheered and danced under Manhattan’s fading evening light. Shouts of “Free Puff!” echoed into Foley Square.
Judge Subramanian said he would deliver a written decision on Diddy’s bail request “very soon.” Until then, Combs remains behind bars, facing up to two decades in prison.
