2Face Apologise Over Infidelity Comment, But Gets Slammed by OAP Dotun

Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Face, has publicly apologised after making a controversial statement about men’s ability to remain sexually committed in a relationship.

The singer made the comment during a podcast interview with OAP Nedu Wazobia, saying that men are “not built to be sexually committed to only one woman.”

His remark triggered some backlash on social media, with many users criticising it as irresponsible and disappointing.

In response to the growing outrage, 2Face posted a video apology on his Instagram page Wednesday morning, acknowledging the damage his words had caused.

“I know I have fucked up with what I have said. I really, really fucked up the way I said it. I’m going to pay with a heavy price. I’m going to face the consequences,” he said solemnly.

The 49-year-old music star explained that he had intended to communicate something deeper about himself, but admitted his delivery was completely off.

“I said it because I want people to understand me, but maybe I didn’t say it appropriately. I own up to my mistake,” he added. “But one thing I know for sure is I’m sorry to my wife, Natasha. Calling me a legend is an honor, but this my talk is quite unlegendly.”

2Face reflected on the reactions he received following the interview, noting how the intensity of the public’s disappointment showed how much people care about him and the values he is expected to uphold.

“The amount of response that I get has made me see how much people love and respect me. For me to now use stupid statements to cancel everything, that’s not who I am. I’m sorry.”

OAP Dotun Reacts: “2Face Needs Help”

However, 2Face’s apology didn’t sit well with everyone. Popular on-air personality, Dotun, shared his thoughts via his X handle (formerly Twitter), suggesting that something deeper is wrong with the artist.

He questioned the sincerity of the apology and pointed out that 2Face has a history of avoiding accountability.

According to Dotun, “Someone is taking advantage of his weakness. He never addresses anything. Not even his biggest scandals.”

Dotun added that the singer seems to be “regressing” and may be in urgent need of counselling or a comprehensive psychological evaluation.

The radio host’s remarks have further stirred the conversation, prompting mixed reactions from fans who are divided between defending 2Face and agreeing with Dotun’s concern.

2Face recently got married to Natasha Osawaru, an Edo lawmaker, after a divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia, in January 2025, with whom he was married for 13 years since 2012.
