The Nigeria Police Force has condemned the behavior of officers seen running behind Nollywood actress Angela Okorie in a viral video.
In the clip, two armed officers were seen trailing the actress as she jogged. The video, which sparked mixed reactions online, raised questions about the professionalism and conduct of the officers involved
Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi released a statement on Wednesday, describing the incident as “clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.”
“The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged,” the statement read.
“The incident, which appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, has also sparked widespread public concern and criticism.”
The Force said it is not yet clear if the video was part of a scripted movie. However, it insisted the officers’ conduct was unacceptable regardless of the context.
“Necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video,” the statement continued. “Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review.”
Movie Scene or Misconduct?
Although the police are still investigating, Angela Okorie had posted the video on her TikTok page with a caption suggesting it was from a movie shoot.
Despite this, the Force reiterated that officers in uniform must maintain discipline and uphold public trust, especially when seen in public or recorded on camera.
The incident has caused controversy online about the abuse of uniforms and the blurry line between real life and entertainment involving security officers.
