Google has selected six Nigerian startups for the 2025 edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa.
The program, which supports artificial intelligence (AI)-driven innovation, unveiled 15 startups in total for its Class 9 cohort.
These selected companies are drawn from across seven countries, including Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, and Nigeria.
Google’s announcement came on Tuesday, confirming the inclusion of the Nigerian ventures in its accelerator program.
The selected startups are using AI to tackle real-world challenges in financial services, digital health, global trade, software quality assurance, and small business support.
Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem in Africa at Google, praised the startups’ efforts in addressing Africa’s unique problems.
“African startups are at the forefront of solving critical challenges across the continent, and their work with AI is truly transformative,” he said. “We are incredibly excited to support these founders who are building for impact and helping to shape an inclusive AI ecosystem across Africa.”
Nigerian Startups Selected for Google’s 2025 AI Program
The six Nigerian startups were chosen from nearly 1,500 applicants in a highly competitive selection process launched in April 2025. Each startup brings a distinct AI-driven solution to key sectors in Nigeria and the continent at large.
E-doc Online is helping financial institutions simplify customer onboarding and loan approvals by using real-time banking data.
GoNomad enables African freelancers and businesses to operate like global companies and receive international payments with ease.
Middleman is building a seamless platform that makes importing goods from China faster and less expensive for African businesses.
Also on the list is Myltura, a digital health company offering remote healthcare services and lab access powered by AI.
Pastel provides fraud detection and anti-money laundering tools to financial institutions.
Scandium is equipping software development teams with AI-powered tools that help reduce bugs and speed up testing cycles.
Accelerator Program Offers Mentorship, Cloud Credits, and Global Exposure
The accelerator runs from June 23 to August 22, 2025.
The three-month program combines online and physical training sessions. Selected startups will receive up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits.
They will also gain technical mentorship from Google engineers and guidance from AI experts.
In addition to technical training, the startups will receive business growth advice and connections to global investors and partners.
Google said the goal is to help African startups scale up their services and build strong, sustainable companies.
Other participants in the cohort include Shamba Records from Kenya, YeneHealth from Ethiopia, and TOLBI from Senegal.
Ghana is represented by Zerone Analytiqs and Regulon. Rwanda’s Smartel Agri Tech and South Africa’s Rapid Human AI also made the list.
Google’s Goal: Supporting Responsible AI and Inclusive Innovation
Since 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa program has supported 153 startups from 17 countries. According to Google, these companies have raised more than $300 million in external funding and created over 3,500 jobs.
The tech company has also provided over $5 million in equity-free support, including cloud product credits.
Google says it wants to promote responsible and inclusive AI development in Africa.
The company believes that investing in locally grounded solutions will accelerate progress and deliver sustainable benefits to communities.
