Arnold Schwarzenegger has shared his thoughts on the growing debate over immigration in the United States.
Speaking during an appearance on The View on Tuesday, June 17, the former California governor and Hollywood icon encouraged immigrants to follow legal channels and behave respectfully in their host country. He reflected on his own journey to America as a young man who had nothing but determination.
The 77-year-old Austrian-born actor arrived in the United States at the age of 21. He had no friends, no money, and no family in the country. However, he believed in the American Dream and worked hard to achieve success.
“I came here legally. I had no money, no friends, no safety net but I had a dream,” he said. “This country gave me everything, and I worked hard for it. That’s the beauty of America.”
Calls for Legal Immigration and Respect for U.S. Laws
Schwarzenegger made it clear that he supports immigration, but only if it is done the right way. He stated that those who follow the rules can achieve anything in America. “If you come here legally and act like a guest in someone’s home, you can succeed,” he added.
He openly criticized illegal immigration, calling it both reckless and foolish. In his words, “Foreigners doing illegal things, they are not smart. It’s not about being against immigrants, it’s about respecting the rules.”
He urged newcomers to see themselves as guests in another person’s house, where respect for the law is not only expected but required.
