Reality TV star and UK returnee, Uriel Oputa, has just fired hot pepper into the Sunday soup — and the streets are shaking!
The outspoken Big Brother Naija alum took to her Instagram to lament the “alarming” trend of Igbo men marrying women old enough to be their grandmothers — not even their mothers o!
And according to Uriel, love has absolutely nothing to do with it.
“I’m not even embarrassed anymore – just genuinely concerned for my Igbo brothers,” she wrote in a now-viral post.
“There’s a rising trend of marrying women old enough to be your grandmothers. Yes, age is just a number – but so is your mum’s blood pressure. Let’s be serious.”
🤣 Blood pressure don enter relationship talk now o.
According to the bubbly influencer, many of these “unusual” love stories are simply for passport purposes.
“This feels less like love and more like a passport hustle. At this point, no Nigerian man should ever call a woman a gold digger again – y’all are leading the league right now.”
Ewooo! Talk about reversing the gender hustle!
🕵🏽♀️ Let’s Break It Down
Now, we don’t know who broke Uriel’s heart recently, or who she saw at the visa queue, but this clapback has gone nuclear online.
She even threw in this hilarious shade:
“As a woman with an elderly mother, I can’t even bring myself to imagine what’s going on in the other room.”
LMAO 😂! This one pass “sugar mummy” gist — we’ve entered “grandma love” season. Maybe they’ll soon launch “GILF Connect” dating app? 👀
Social Media Is Already Divided
Team Passport Hustle says: “Let them collect what the government refused to give them – a better life abroad! Love or not, na who get visa dey laugh last.”
Team Morality says: “This is pure manipulation. How can you be collecting morning tea from a woman with arthritis?”
Some are even quoting James Brown with “Who dey breeet?”
🤔 So, What Do YOU Think? Is Uriel right? Are Nigerian men (especially Igbo men) going too far with the marriage-for-passport hustle? Or is love just… complicated? Do you know someone in this kind of relationship? No shame here. Tag them with love
