Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi has shared why he remains unmarried at the age of 48. In a recent interview, he spoke about the deep effect of his movie career on his love life.
Nonso, famous for playing romantic roles in Nollywood films, said acting made it hard for him to build real emotional relationships.
“Everything I knew about love came from a script,” he said. “As a young man growing up, I never experienced real love.”
He explained that his early fame and busy career made it difficult to develop a personal love life. Despite his efforts to settle down, it hasn’t worked.
His Career Took Over His Love Life
The actor said he once had a serious relationship before fame. According to him, it felt like real love. But fame changed everything.
“I found love before I found fame. That was love for me but industry happened,” he said.
He added that his career demands and busy schedule affected his relationship. His partner, he said, could not understand the changes he was going through.
“I became too busy. I changed. She was too good, too real, but I was changing, she couldn’t understand it.”
Looking Back with Regret
Nonso said he now reflects on his choices and feels he may have made a mistake by not marrying her.
“If I knew that the world would be what it is today, I would have tied the knot with her back then,” he admitted.

Nonso has been less active in Nollywood recently but remains a well-known and respected actor. His roles in classic romantic films helped build his image as a charming leading man.
However, he now says that image got in the way of his real emotions and made it hard to create a lasting relationship.
