The Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated four Nigerians for achieving political success in the United Kingdom.
They include Dr. Adekunle Osibogun, Princess Opeyemi Bright, Councillor Jason Utitofon Jackson, and Councillor Sunny Lambe. All four won different positions in various UK boroughs.
Princess Opeyemi Bright became the youngest Mayor of Barking and Dagenham. Jason Jackson was elected as the first Black Mayor of Islington.
Sunny Lambe was elected Mayor of Southwark, after years of serving in different public roles. Dr. Adekunle Osibogun also won re-election as a Councillor for Buckinghamshire Council and Buckingham Town Council.
Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa described these victories as important moments in Nigerian history.
She said their wins show how Nigerians abroad continue to excel in leadership and public service.
A Message of Encouragement from NiDCOM
“These successes reflect the spirit of determination and brilliance that Nigerians bring to the global stage,” she said.
She offered prayers for strength, protection, and wisdom as they begin their duties.
“I pray that your service will inspire others and open doors for many more young Africans in the diaspora,” she added.
Dabiri-Erewa urged them to stay focused and lead with integrity. She said their success would help inspire new generations of leaders around the world.
These wins come at a time when many Nigerians abroad are stepping up to take leadership roles in their local communities.
The Nigerian government continues to support its citizens in the diaspora who are making positive contributions across the world.
