Sterling Bank has introduced a new feature called AlwaysOn on its OneBank platform. It gives selected customers up to ₦1 million every month, even if their account balances are low.
The feature launched on May 1, 2025, during Workers’ Day celebrations. It’s part of the bank’s move to help Nigerians feel more secure and free when making financial decisions.
AlwaysOn is not for everyone. Only customers with active OneBank accounts for a while will receive invites. They’ll get advance funds to settle bills or make payments without delay.
“This is not just about funds,” said Abubakar Suleiman, Sterling Bank’s CEO. “It’s about freedom and dignity. It’s about backing our customers with the trust and tools to act boldly when life demands it.”
He added that AlwaysOn is not a regular product. It’s a change in how the bank helps customers take action quickly.
“We’re building a financial ecosystem designed for momentum—people with grit, urgency, and dreams too big to wait. If you’ve banked with us, you’ve earned our confidence. Now you’ll have our backing to match,” he said.
New Chapter in Sterling’s Customer Support Journey
This new feature adds to Sterling’s recent push for customer-friendly services. In April, the bank removed all transfer fees on OneBank. That gave Nigerians an estimated ₦13 billion back.
Sterling also offered Free Bus Rides to workers during tough economic times. These moves show the bank’s interest in making life easier for regular Nigerians.
They’ve made this possible by using SeaBaas, Nigeria’s first homegrown core banking platform.
“We’re not the kind of bank that stands on the sidelines while Nigerians hustle,” said Obinna Ukachukwu, the Growth Executive for Retail and Consumer Banking. “We removed the fees that slowed them down. Now we’re giving Nigerians the financial freedom to seize opportunity when it shows up. We’re on the pitch with them.”
Wider Support and What Comes Next
Many Nigerians have shown support for Sterling’s recent actions. Public figures in different fields have praised the bank for its unique approach to banking.
Sterling says Nigerians should join the waitlist when it opens later this month. Those who qualify could get up to ₦1 million extra every month.
Sterling Bank is known for putting people first. It works in key areas like Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, and Transport. You can find out more at sterling.ng.
