Mrs. Shimitte Bello Love, Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, has passed away under unclear circumstances.
The uncertain circumstances surrounding her death on Easter Sunday has led authorities to take her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, into “protective custody”.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed her death, saying she was declared dead at the hospital where she was taken.
“We did not arrest the husband. He is currently in protective custody. He was the one who contacted us, saying his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who believe he may be responsible and are planning to attack him,” Edafe explained.
“Based on this, we went to his residence and escorted him to safety. However, the family came forward this morning to lodge an official complaint, alleging that he was responsible for her death. As a result, we have launched a full investigation. In such situations, it is only a post-mortem that can reveal whether her death was natural or caused by foul play.”
Reports of Domestic Issues
Sources close to the family claim that Shimitte had been locked indoors for days due to ongoing marital issues.
Witnesses say she was found foaming at the mouth before being rushed to the hospital, fueling speculation that she may have been poisoned. However, authorities have yet to confirm these claims.
Shimitte was widely known for her contributions to trade and export development in Delta State. She was also the brain behind the “Sabi-ficate” movement, which encouraged young people to acquire practical skills beyond academic credentials.
The police have assured the public that thorough investigations will be conducted, with an autopsy scheduled to determine the exact cause of her death.
