Two Nollywood actors (names withheld) were found dead in Owerri under unclear circumstances after attending a house party.
Reports indicate they ate rice and drank wine and Calypso before their sudden deaths. Two other individuals were discovered unconscious and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The tragic incident occurred last Friday after a film shoot. Crew members gathered at a director’s house to unwind.
However, the celebration took a different turn when the host reportedly woke up around 4 a.m. to switch the power supply and discovered one person dead, with others barely conscious.
Conflicting Reports and Ongoing Investigation
One eyewitness doubted the host’s account of events, calling it “incoherent.”
“The host said he left them in the parlour and went to bed. Around 4 a.m., he woke up to switch over to NEPA, and when he entered the parlour, he found one person dead and others unconscious. He then raised the alarm.”
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the deaths and ongoing investigations. “Two people were pronounced dead, while two others are hospitalized. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed a pathologist to determine the cause of death. The results will guide the next steps.”
Meanwhile, police are said to have made some arrests among the film crew, including directors and other individuals connected to the gathering. Hopefully, under interrogation, the truth about this sad development may be revealed.
