Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has called for the prosecution of those behind the wrongful imprisonment of Quadri Alabi.
Obi made this demand after meeting with Alabi and his legal team on Friday, April 18, 2025.
Alabi endured unlawful incarceration after being framed by some street miscreants. He is now free, thanks to efforts by his lawyers and activists.
Obi shared his meeting with Alabi on X, praising his determination to continue his education.
“I listened to Quadri today, and one thing stood out clearly: his unwavering desire for education,” Obi posted.
Despite his ordeal, Alabi remains committed to his studies. Obi pledged to support his academic journey.
“His determination is not just inspiring; it is a call to action, and I am committed to ensuring that he gets the education he desires and deserves,” Obi added.
Justice Must Be Served
Obi stressed that securing Alabi’s freedom was only the first step. Holding those responsible accountable is essential.
“We must not stop at his release. Those responsible for his illegal incarceration must be held accountable,” Obi stated.
He promised continued advocacy for fairness and justice in Nigeria.
“Together, we will build a Nigeria where education, freedom, rule of law, equity, and justice, care, and protection of the less privileged in our midst will stand as the foundation of our democracy,” Obi affirmed.
