Nigeria has lost one of its most influential business leaders, Pascal Dozie, who passed away at the age of 86 after battling age-related illness.
Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Dozie made lasting contributions to Nigeria’s banking and business sectors. He founded Diamond Bank, which became a leading financial institution before merging with Access Bank in 2019.
His bank would be the first bank to digitalize in Nigeria, running synchronized user accounts across its branches in real time.
He also played a key role in corporate leadership, serving as the Chairman of Pan-Atlantic University and leading the MTN Group as its Chairman before stepping down.
Business and National Impact
In addition to banking, Dozie established the African Development Consulting Group, which worked with global brands like Nestlé and Pfizer. His dedication to business excellence earned him the prestigious Order of the Niger (OON) national award.
Dozie is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, and five children. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, entrepreneurship, and service to Nigeria.
There is yet no information regarding the funeral from the family.
