Former President Muhammadu Buhari has once again confirmed his strong commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stated that he remains a dedicated member and will continue promoting the party’s ideals.
Buhari made this declaration while addressing concerns about his political involvement since leaving office. He dismissed speculations that he was distancing himself from the APC and insisted he would always support the party.
The speculation was partly generated when former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai disclosed that he got the blessing of Buhari before defecting from APC to the Social Democratic Party.
‘I Am an APC Member’
The former president was clear about his allegiance. “I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such,” he said. “I will try to popularise the party by all means.”
Buhari expressed deep gratitude to the APC for the platform it provided him. He described his time in office as the highest honor of his political career and said he had no further personal demands from the party.
However, he stressed that he remained committed to strengthening its foundation.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the party’s founding fathers. According to him, their efforts in building a strong political movement should never be taken for granted.
Furthermore, Buhari called for the protection of democratic principles and urged APC members to work together for national development. He noted that the party must remain united to continue serving Nigerians effectively.
