Trump’s Speech to Congress: Bold Claims, Republican Cheers, and Democrat Protests

Six weeks into his second term, United States President Donald Trump took center stage at the U.S. Capitol, addressing a joint session of Congress in a speech that was both a victory lap and a battle cry. He declared his early presidency the most successful start in U.S. history, boasting of major policy moves while attacking his political opponents.

“We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations did in four or eight years,” Trump said, drawing loud applause from Republican lawmakers.

His speech, filled with bold claims and pointed jabs, painted a picture of a nation regaining its strength and confidence under his leadership. He criticized past administrations, claiming their failures had weakened the U.S. economy, military, and global standing.

“We were a nation in decline,” he declared. “But now, we are a nation rising again—stronger, prouder, and more confident than ever before.”

Trump Gives Thumbs-up To His Achievements

Trump used the address to outline what he called a long list of early achievements. Among them:

• Executive actions reversing policies of the Biden administration.
• A freeze on foreign aid to countries that “don’t put America first.”
• New immigration policies, including expanded border wall construction and stricter deportation measures.
• The rollback of diversity and inclusion programs in federal agencies, the military, and public schools.
• A ban on transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, which has sparked fierce debate nationwide.

“Wokeness is trouble. Wokeness is bad. It’s gone!” Trump declared. “And we feel so much better for it, don’t we?” His remarks drew laughter and loud cheers from his Republican allies.

Trump also celebrated the economy’s early growth, attributing it to his policies. “Wall Street is booming, unemployment is down, and American energy is back!” he said. He vowed to expand domestic oil and gas production, reduce environmental regulations, and keep jobs in America.

Democrats Push Back as Trump Mocks Critics

While Republicans gave standing ovations, Democrats sat in stony silence, many visibly shaking their heads. Several held up signs with words like “false” and “lies” in response to his claims.

Trump seemed to relish the tension, using the moment to mock his critics. He took a swipe at Senator Elizabeth Warren, reviving his infamous “Pocahontas” nickname. He also mocked the numerous legal challenges he had faced in recent years.

“It didn’t work out for them, did it?” he smirked, prompting laughter from his supporters.

One notable absence from the chamber was Congressman Al Green, a Texas Democrat who had led impeachment efforts against Trump during his first term. His office did not immediately comment on why he missed the address.

A Presidency That Won’t Seek Unity

Trump made it clear that he has no plans to seek bipartisan cooperation. Instead, he doubled down on his conservative base, vowing to fight against what he called the “radical left lunatics” trying to destroy America.

“Our country belongs to the hardworking men and women who love America—not the corrupt bureaucrats, the fake news media, or the woke mob,” he declared.

As he left the podium, Republicans erupted in applause, chanting “USA! USA!” Trump flashed his signature thumbs-up, signaling that his presidency was full steam ahead—whether Democrats liked it or not.
