Elon Musk‘s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is set to release its latest chatbot, Grok 3, on Monday, February 17.
Musk has billed the new model as the “smartest AI on Earth” in a market that is becoming increasingly competitive.
Grok 3 was trained on synthetic data and is designed to improve its reasoning by reflecting on past errors and reviewing data for logical consistency.

Musk announced the launch on his social media platform, X, and said he would stay offline until the launch, honing the product with his team.
Intensifying AI Competition
The launch of Grok 3 comes as the AI market is heating up, with established players like OpenAI’s ChatGPT facing challenges from new entrants.
Chinese startup DeepSeek recently launched a low-cost, high-quality chatbot that surpassed ChatGPT in downloads on Apple’s App Store, causing ripples in the West about a potential shift in global leadership in the field.
Musk has been aggressively pursuing investment in the AI sector, despite warning about its potential risks to humanity. xAI secured $6 billion in funding from investors in December, following an initial $6 billion fundraising round in May.
This makes xAI one of the world’s most valuable startups, although it remains smaller than OpenAI.
Musk founded xAI in July 2023, shortly after signing an open letter urging a pause in the development of advanced AI models.
OpenAI recently rejected a Musk-led offer to acquire the company for $97.4 billion.
