Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ criminal trial has officially begun with jury selection in a Manhattan courtroom.
Judge Arun Subramanian, along with prosecutors and defense attorneys, will question up to 150 potential jurors to determine their eligibility for the case. The selection process is expected to last three days.
The 55-year-old hip-hop mogul faces serious federal charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Combs has also denied allegations in more than 50 civil lawsuits filed against him since November 2023, including one from his former partner, R&B singer Casandra Ventura. That case was settled privately for an undisclosed amount.
During his final court hearing on May 2, Combs confirmed he rejected a plea deal. A judge previously denied his legal team’s request to delay the trial.
If convicted, Combs could face a minimum of 15 years in prison, with the possibility of a life sentence.
