Amid raging speculations of a marital crisis between Senator Ned Nwoko [APC, Delta North], and his young movie star wife, Regina Daniels, the Senator has denied any plans of taking another Nollywood actress, the gorgeous Chika Ike, as wife.
The billionaire senator is also married to his Moroccan sweetheart and entrepreneur, the 34-year-old Laila Charani, whom he married in 2010. He claimed his right to a polygamous African culture and married Regina nine years later.
Rumours have been wildly circulating that the senator plans to marry Miss Ike and is, in fact, the father of her unborn child.
Earlier on Monday, Regina Daniels, a social media personality with over 10 million Instagram followers suddenly deactivated her account, setting the internet abuzz about what might be between her and the senator.
Senator Denies Planning Third Marriage
In a statement on Monday, attempting to clarify the issues, the Director of Communications, Office of Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko stated, “Our attention has been drawn to the recent false rumors alleging that Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko is planning to marry Nollywood actress Chika Ike as his seventh wife and that she is pregnant for him. We categorically state that these claims are entirely baseless and a product of malicious speculation.“
Nwoko also denied reports that he made statements about singer Tuface and polygamy. “Similarly, reports claiming he made statements about Tuface and polygamy are completely untrue. As a public figure and with his wife also being an actress, it is not unusual for bloggers seeking attention to fabricate such stories.”
The statement adds that “Senator Nwoko is currently on a national assignment, focused on delivering on his political mandate, and has no time for distractions.
“This office remains available to journalists for verification of information, and we remind media practitioners of the consequences of spreading fake news. The public is advised to disregard these rumours and rely only on official statements from his office,” the statement added
Amid the controversy, Chika Ike has kept a studied silence, neither denying nor confirming the rumours of a romantic involvement with the politician. nor offering any inkling as to who the father of her child might be.
And no one has heard from the second wife, Regina, either, leaving the gossip mills guessing.
