Nigerian Army Eliminates 50 Terrorists in Zamfara, Launch “Operation Show No Mercy”

The Nigerian Army is claiming a major victory over bandits and terrorists in Zamfara State.

Troops from Operation FANSAN reportedly on Saturday successfully neutralized over 50 terrorists and injured at least 25 others, including high-profile commanders loyal to Bello Turji and Sani Mai Nasara (Sani Black), during a fierce battle in Operation FANSAR YAN BINDIGA.

The army listed terrorists killed in the clashes to include Kachallah Sanni Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta, Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru, Dan-Gajere (son of Audu Jabbi), and Bako Malaika, a notorious terrorist operating around Tungan Dan Musa.

Securing Tungan Fulani Hills

The successful assault is the first time in years that Nigerian troops have been able to penetrate and dominate Tungan Fulani Hills, a location that had become one of the most dangerous terrorist fortresses in the Zurmi-Shinkafi axis.

This achievement disrupts the terrorists’ supply chain and cuts off their escape routes to neighboring forests.

Nigerian Troops gain control of one of the well known Tungan Fulani Hills – a strong enclave of Bandits in Zamfara State.

The area had gained notoriety following a deadly ambush in 2019, when Bello Turji and Sani Black’s fighters killed a Major and 16 soldiers. After that incident, the military was forced to withdraw from Mashema District, leaving the region under terrorist control.

Sustaining the Offensive

Following this victory, Military Defense officials have vowed to sustain the offensive under the newly declared “Operation Show No Mercy.” The mission is not just to push the terrorists out but to ensure their complete elimination.

The time for hiding is over. Bello Turji, Sani Black, and their fighters must either surrender unconditionally or face total annihilation. There will be no negotiations, no safe havens, and no escape routes,” the army said.

The army also calls on locals to cooperate with intelligence operatives to help track down fleeing terrorists.

Military sources confirmed that troops have expanded their operations beyond Zamfara, targeting terrorist hideouts in neighboring states to prevent them from regrouping.

The purpose of the terror campaign has remained a mystery, and so is the funding, logistics supplies and training. However, the menace in the region have survived four Nigerian administrations. It is hoped that the current sustained offensive from the military, could obliterate the scourge which has obstructed economic development in the area for decades.
