South Korea’s Air Busan Plane Catch Fire; All 176 Passengers and Crew Evacuated Safely”

A passenger plane caught fire on Tuesday at Gimhae International Airport in Busan, South Korea,

The Air Busan plane, bound for Hong Kong, caught fire in its tail section around 10:30 p.m. local time (02.30 pm Lagos Time).

There were 169 passengers and seven flight attendants on board. They were all successfully evacuated down inflatable slides. One person was injured in the incident.

Details about the cause of the fire were not immediately available.

We are investigating the cause of the fire,” said an Air Busan spokesperson. “The safety of our passengers is our top priority.”

The incident occurred just a month after South Korea’s worst aviation disaster on its soil.

On December 29, a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crash-landed and exploded into a fireball at Muan Airport, killing 179 people.

Air Busan’s fleet consists entirely of Airbus aircraft. The airline has not commented on the condition of the plane involved in the fire.
