The Kano State Police Command has issued a heightened alert to residents following intelligence reports of a possible terrorist attack targeting public gatherings.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police advised the public to avoid crowded areas while security agencies work to assess and mitigate any threats.
“The Kano State Police Command, in partnership with other security agencies, has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” the statement read.
“As a precautionary measure, we urge residents to exercise caution and stay away from crowded places until further notice.”
Strategic Deployment of Specialized Teams
SP Kiyawa said that specialized teams, including experts from Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units, have been deployed to key locations.
These teams are currently on high alert, and residents are encouraged to report any suspicious individuals or items to the authorities via the provided contact numbers.
