In Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) staged an incredible comeback to defeat Manchester City 4-2 in a thrilling Champions League match at the Parc des Princes.

The win revives PSG’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout phase of 16 and leaves City facing a possible humiliating exit.

Lineups

PSG: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Sergio Ramos, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Marco Verratti, Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé, Gonçalo Ramos.

Manchester City: Stefan Ortega, Rico Lewis, Rúben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Matheus Nunes, Rodri, Mateo Kovačić, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland.

How the Match Unfolded

City initially took control, with Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland scoring early in the second half to give City a 2-0 lead. However, PSG surged back with goals from Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos to seal a stunning comeback.

The turning point came when Barcola set up Dembélé to reduce the deficit, followed by Barcola’s equalizer after Désiré Doué’s shot hit the bar.

Post-Match Analysis

PSG coach Luis Enrique liked his team’s resilience, calling the game’s turning point the first goal. “From that moment on, we were far superior,” he said.

Of his team, Enrique added, “This team might not have the superstars and big world-class names anymore, but they showed great heart with their talent and energy.”

Manchester City’s defeat leaves them teetering on the brink of an early exit from the Champions League.

What the Coaches Said

Pep Guardiola admitted PSG was the better team on the night but remained hopeful, saying, “We have the last chance at home against Bruges.” Guardiola’s team reverted to their old ways in Paris, throwing away a lead through complacency and a lack of matching the opposition for effort and desire. This was the ninth time this season that City had surrendered a winning position and failed to take the game.

Player of the Match

Bradley Barcola was key in PSG’s win, scoring the equalizer and providing an assist for Ousmane Dembélé’s goal. Barcola is quickly becoming PSG’s star player this season.
