A coordinated offensive operation by the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade troops has eliminated six Lakurawa terrorists in the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation, which was carried out under Operation Fansan Yamma, also led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one box of 12.7mm ammunition.
According to Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, the operation was a success but came at a heavy cost.

“Despite this success, the operation came at a heavy cost, as five gallant soldiers tragically lost their lives in the line of duty,” Abdullahi regrettably said.
The troops engaged the terrorists in an intense firefight, which resulted in the deaths of the six suspects. The operation was a major blow to the terrorist group, and it demonstrates the military’s commitment, under CDS Gen Christopher Musa, to protecting lives and maintaining peace in the region.
Lt. Col. Abdullahi urged the public to remain vigilant and alert in their communities. “Public cooperation is crucial for protecting lives and maintaining peace in our communities,” he added.
The public has been called upon to report any suspicious activities related to terrorism or security threats in the Gudu LGA and surrounding areas to security agencies.
