Dangote Refinery has announced what might be termed a Christmas package for Nigerians by slashing the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) price down to ₦899.50 per litre.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group shared this news in a statement on Thursday morning.
This is the second price cut, as the refinery had lowered the price to ₦970 per litre on November 24. The recent reduction seeks to ease travel costs during this busy festive period.
“Dangote Refinery is offering a holiday discount on PMS to alleviate transport costs during this holiday season. From today, our petrol will be available at ₦899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or SPM,” Chiejina said.
Even more enticing is a credit facility being extended to the public. Chiejina’s statement said consumers can now buy additional fuel on credit for every litre purchased in cash, provided they secure a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.
It did not provide clear details on how this would be implemented. However, the banks are expected to roll out details of the credit scheme soon.
The refinery says it appreciates the support from Nigerians and pledged to continue providing high-quality, eco-friendly petroleum products at competitive rates.
It also reaffirmed its objective of “ending Nigeria’s reliance on poor-quality and blended imported fuels, which have harmed health, machinery, and the environment.”
Chiejina’s statement did not disclose if the price drop was permanent or temporary for this season only.
