On Saturday, Chelsea defeated Leicester City 2-1 at the King Power Stadium in another thrilling English Premier League match. Nicolas Jackson shone brightly, demonstrating why he has become such an effective Premier League forward, propelling Chelsea into the race for the Champions League place.

Enzo Fernández finally converted a close-range header in the 68th minute to increase their lead, following a strong play by Jackson and a saved header that presented Fernández with a simple finish.
As the match progressed, Leicester grew increasingly frustrated. Substitute Stephy Mavididi fell in the penalty area after a challenge from Wesley Fofana, but referee Andy Madley did not award a penalty, and VAR official Paul Tierney did not recommend a review.
In added time, Leicester eventually got a penalty when Bobby De Cordova-Reid was fouled by Roméo Lavia, with Jordan Ayew converting from 12 yards. Even that moment included a dash of controversy, with De Cordova-Reid initially flagged offside before replays showed he was onside.

Chelsea’s victory showed their growing confidence and tactical discipline under head coach Enzo Maresca. Nicolas Jackson’s performance was exceptional, and he has now surpassed the league goals scored for Chelsea by Fernando Torres. Leicester City, on the other hand, struggled to maintain defensive solidity and capitalize on their chances. The loss of Harry Winks early in the match disrupted their midfield strategy, and defensive lapses proved costly. Leicester City manager Steve Cooper was unhappy with the game. “We’ve had some terrible luck with this referee, and that’s continued today. The big moment is the first penalty [not given]; it’s clear what’s happened there. The second one was offside [before VAR], and you can see how onside he was. That was the story of the officials’ game.”
