President Pena’s Health Stable After Sudden Illness at G20 Summit in Brazil

Paraguay’s President Santiago Pena was taken to a hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after falling ill at the G20 summit on Monday. According to Brazilian officials, Pena is undergoing medical checks, and the hospital will soon release a medical bulletin.

Witnesses reported that Pena was taken by ambulance from the summit venue. Some Latin American media outlets suggested that he had suffered chest pains, but this has not been officially confirmed.

Paraguay’s Vice President Pedro Alliana stated that he spoke with President Pena, who is in stable condition and awaiting the results of medical tests.

The incident occurred while Pena was attending the G20 summit, where he presented Paraguay’s economic situation and plans for poverty reduction. Paraguay is not a member of the G20, but Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva invited Pena to the summit.

This development comes as Pena’s government focuses on creating jobs, reducing poverty, and fighting crime and corruption in Paraguay. The country also navigates complex foreign policy issues, including its relationship with Taiwan and renegotiating electricity rates with Brazil.

Pena’s health status is being closely monitored, and the hospital and Paraguayan authorities are expected to provide further updates.

Hopefully the test results come out and it’s not something serious.
