Governor Siminalayi Fubara has asserted that the current political unrest in Rivers State is primarily caused by those seeking access to the state’s resources.
He said his administration is committed to using these resources responsibly for the benefit of the people. “The resources of Rivers State belong to you, and we will ensure they are used wisely for the betterment of our state,” Fubara said.
“We ask only one thing in return: continue to pray for us. We won’t lose focus on our mission for the people, and with your prayers, we will fulfill the purpose of governance.”
Fubara made these remarks while addressing the congregation at Omega Power Ministries (OPM) on Sunday, November 3, during the celebration of Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere’s 51st birthday and the ministry’s 18th anniversary. This event took place at OPM’s headquarters in Mbodo, Aluu, near Port Harcourt.
He explained, “There is a reason for this crisis: the control of Rivers State’s resources.” Fubara also praised Apostle Chinyere for OPM’s extensive educational programs that provide children with vocational and technical skills essential for future employment. “Life is about giving, not just taking,” he remarked. “For all you do for humanity, God will continue strengthening you. We recognize the impact of your contributions.”
To support OPM’s infrastructure projects, Fubara announced a donation explicitly praising the church’s initiative to build a new facility for its television station. “On behalf of the government and the people of Rivers State, I am donating N200 million to support this project,” he said.
Concluding his address, Fubara added, “OPM has injected power into the lives of many, and in return, I am giving you more power for the progress of Rivers State.” He expressed confidence in the people’s support and prayers as a source of strength for the state’s advancement.
