The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has intervened in the party’s ongoing crisis, nullifying suspensions and counter-suspensions issued by feuding members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, announced the decision after a two-day meeting with representatives of the NWC, National Assembly Caucus, and Board of Trustees (BoT).
“I want to inform you on behalf of the PDP Governors Forum, Chairman of the Senate Caucus, and the representative of the BoT, we had a family meeting, and we wish to reaffirm that there is no faction in the PDP,” Mohammed said.
According to Mohammed, all suspensions have been lifted, and the party has reverted to the status quo under acting Chairman Umar Damagum, pending the resolution of outstanding issues.
Damagum welcomed the development, stating, “There is no crisis in the party as far as I am concerned, but some people want to take advantage of the situation.“
The crisis began after Damagum’s faction suspended National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, prompting counter-suspensions against Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.
