Tesla CEO Elon Musk Taking Humanity To The “Age of Abundance” with His Robotaxis and Driverless Cars

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has unveiled his vision for a “fun, exciting future” filled with self-driving cars, parking lots turned into parks, and robots walking among the population.

At a glitzy event in California, Musk showcased designs for his robotaxis, including the Cybercab, a vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals.

“It’ll be like sitting in a comfortable little lounge,” Musk said of the Cybercab. “Yeah, it’s going to be awesome.“

Musk promised that Teslas with Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability would operate without human intervention in California and Texas by next year. However, critics question whether Tesla can meet these timelines, given Musk’s history of optimistic predictions.

“I tend to be a little optimistic with time frames,” Musk admitted during the presentation.

Tech journalist Kara Swisher expressed skepticism, saying, “He’s been promising them forever while others have delivered.” Swisher noted that companies like Google’s Waymo have already tested driverless services.

Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, estimated that it would take two years to perfect the technology and two to three more years to secure regulatory approval.

Musk’s vision includes a robotaxi service that would compete with Uber and Lyft, as well as allow Tesla owners to rent out their cars for rides when not in use.
