The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have alleged that Dangote Refinery is operating in secrecy regarding petrol pricing.
PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harris urged the refinery to be transparent and engage all stakeholders.
“Regarding Dangote price, as I speak to you, I don’t know what Dangote price is all about…they have kept that shrouded in secrecy up until now,” Gillis-Harris complained in a TV interview earlier Thursday.
IPMAN National President Abubakar Shettima also demanded that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) sell petrol to marketers at the same rate as it gets from Dangote Refinery, saying there’s a big disparity between what NNPC gets from Dangote and what it sells to marketers.
“We have requested that they sell to us at Dangote price or return our money,” Shettima said.
According to IPMAN’s Abubakar Garima, NNPC owes petroleum marketers almost N15 billion, and they have not yet loaded a single truck since NNPC increased its pump price.
PETROAN and IPMAN are seeking open communication and fair pricing from both Dangote Refinery and NNPC.
The associations represent thousands of retail outlets and petroleum marketers nationwide.
