POEM: “Unusual Dream”

Welcome to my country, where the sun always shines,
Mosquitoes bite, and electricity’s a rare find.
We enjoy the little things, like finishing movies in our heads,
Bonding in the dark, and greeting the moon instead.

Our government cares, they really do,
They keep us healthy, with power outages; it’s true!
No excessive screen time, an added bonus for family time,
Communal engagement, a silver lining that shines.

Education here is so sweet, a 4-year course can turn into 6,
More time to learn, and marinate in the system’s mix.
We’re experts in stress relief, turning insults into humor fast,
We always have a backup plan, generators, torches, and power banks that last.

Water scarcity’s an adventure, sharing moments with friends,
Conversing and connecting, till the very end.
Potholed roads, speed bumps, we’ve got it all,
Two currencies, two anthems, we stand tall!

Inflation’s our friend, food prices rise,
Cost of living too, but we survive, with rice we shall rise.
Unemployment’s a game, we play it well,
But still, we smile, and our spirits swell.

No place like home, where the unusual dream thrives,
A dream not of perfection, but making the most, we survive.
I call it, The Unusual Dream, where we make do,
With what we have, and laugh, and love, and live anew.
