Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, will be buried on November 1, according to Senator Ben Obi, chairman of the National Committee set up for the funeral.
The committee was established by Senator Hope Uzodinma, chairman of the South East Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State.
Obi stated that the committee has the full support of the governments and peoples of the South East to give the erstwhile president a “very befitting burial that his status deserves.”
He praised the late Iwuanyanwu as a “global citizen and nationalist” and said, “The sacrifices he committed to the Igbo nation are admirable.“
Born on September 4, 1942, Iwuanyanwu was a Nigerian politician, businessman, Champion Newspaper Publisher, and one of Nigeria’s wealthiest persons.
He was the 11th President-General of Ọhanaeze Ndigbo before his demise on July 25, 2024.
