The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has expanded its student loan scheme to include 22 additional state-owned tertiary institutions. This expansion builds on the initial inclusion of 48 schools and is a major step towards encouraging more students to pursue higher education.
Only on April 27, Jim Ovia, Chairman of Zenith Bank plc joined the board of NELFUND as its Chairman, with Mr.Akintunde Sawyerr as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
By some estimates, the Fund could have about N194 billions accrued to it in 2024 alone for disbursement.
