On Sunday, Gareth Southgate‘s men got off to a winning start for the Euros after a powerful header from Jude Bellingham put them in front for the remainder of the game.
England was always the favourites to win, and they proved that when Serbia’s net rattled Yle Walker‘s pass, Saka was found on the right wing, and his cross met Bellingham’s head leading to England’s opener.
Serbia looked to equalize, but Southgate’s men were able to see it through, despite having more than enough firepower to double their less.
The clash between Denmark and Slovenia in Group C was a thrilling rollercoaster. It ended in an unconvincing draw, with Christian Eriksen scoring a crucial goal for Denmark after a flick pass from Jonas Bind, adding to the unpredictability of the game.
Eriksen’s goal also made him the oldest player to score for Denmark at a European tournament, at 32 years. He must find memories of the goal after his collapse at the last Euros.
England leads Group C with 3 points, while Denmark and Slovenia share 1 point each. Serbia has yet to make a mark on the board.
The next round of fixtures holds great significance as England takes on Denmark in a battle of the giants, while Serbia and Slovenia face off in a match that could potentially change the dynamics of Group C.
