A new world class golf facility, Acropolis Golf Course is launching on 5-7 April at Okija, Ihiala, Anambra State.
The golf course promises to be a premier destination for golf enthusiasts in Africa. It boasts a standard nine-hole par 36 layout, including two par-3s and two par-5s.
The course seats on an 42 hecters of real estate.
The inauguration ceremony anticipates over 80 professional golfers and amateurs from around the world. Festivities include an 18-hole tournament and comprehensive tours of the grounds for tourists and guests.
Managed by Nest Oil, the project aims to bolster social investments in the South East region of Nigeria. Obioma Ogakwu, the facility manager, expressed excitment on how the golf course will enhance tourism and economic opportunities for the state.
“Golf is one sport that has been growing silently in the country, and this project hopes to accelerate it and help the state harness its potential for social and economic growth,” says Ogakwu.
“The standard that has been set with the Acropolis Golf Course tells of the passion of the owners, and their drive for excellence, which is needed to raise the demand for quality golf facilities in the country.”
“The South Eastern states of Nigeria have fewer golf facilities despite having immense golfing talents and contributed hugely to the local golf tourism. I believe Acropolis will do to Anamabra what major golf courses have done to the tourism value of Federal Capital, Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Lagos states.”
Recognizing the potential of golf tourism in Nigeria, the Acropolis Golf Course wants to reposition the South East, Nigeria as a hub for golf professional tournaments and enthusiasts in Africa.

With modern facilities and luxurious 165-rooom apartments, the golf course is complete as a resort.
Ogakwu adds that provisions have been made for golfers arriving for the event to transit with ease from the nearest airports to the golf course.
“Airport shuttles have been provided for golfers arriving from Anambra and Asaba Airports to the Acropolis.”
Pamela Osanakpo, communications manager for Acropolis Golf and Resort, “The inaugural event will attract some of the best professionals we have around and several amateur players from around the country.”
Top professional players expected include current Nigeria’s number one ranked player, Francis Epe, along with Olapade Sunday, Oche Odoh, Mike Ubi, Gift Willy and many among others.
