The launch of the ‘Ounje Eko‘ food market in Lagos, offering discounted prices on essential food items across the state, has begun.
Following Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu‘s directive, food products at the “Ounje Eko” markets are now being sold at reduced rates in all five divisions of Lagos, starting from Sunday, March 17.
On Sunday staple food items such as rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper were reportedly sold at a 25% discount.
Buyers besieged Alubarika Primary School in Bariga and Gbagada Junior High School and other centres of the government-regulated sales to purchase various items.
One resident who identified herself as Mrs. Amaka expressed satisfaction with the food market and its lower prices.
“I want to encourage other state governors to follow suit; this is a fantastic and commendable initiative,” Mrs. Amaka said.
