A Labour Party chieftain and its Presidential Campaign spokesperson, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, has urged the Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to consider stepping down due to his incompetent leadership.
In an exclusive interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica, Barrister Okonkwo said the former UK Prime Minister, Liz Truss’s resignation after just 45 days in office due to policy failures was an important example that Tinubu ought to emulate.
The opposition accused the government of “clownishness”, and that it has “failed” and was set on a path to achieve only “further failure”. He warned that the masses are running out of patience and getting “more hungry, more radical, more restless, and more revolutionary.”
A combination of President Tinubu’s government policies including the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira without adequate strategy to cushion off the effects have sent inflation soaring in Africa’s largest economy and throwing millions more into desperate poverty.
Poor Nigerians, according to the opposition chieftain are resorting to “looting warehouses and food trucks after they have exhausted their savings on fuel”.

Okonkwo accused the government of although “having a monopoly of force”, yet it let “bandits and terrorists to be hacking down and taking advantage of innocent people”, throughout the country.
“In these modern times, Nigerians are being bought and sold like slaves while they are burrowing in the forest like animals, and some people are still purporting to be in charge of the government.
“I’m sorry to say, but this is the greatest display of clownishness in power because you are seeing your people being dehumanized, degraded, and there is nothing you are doing about it,” he lamented.
When asked if the opposition leader, Mr. Peter Obi whose supporters continue to insist was robbed of victory at the February polls could have managed the economy inherited by Mr. Tinubu any differently, the LP spokesman replied, “You judge a man by his antecedents. Anambra was coming last in WAEC, but within two years of Peter Obi’s government, they started coming first.
“I have always said Peter Obi is not an option. He is the only option“.

“Before Peter Obi came in as governor, kidnappers were building their tents in Anambra State. But when he came, all the kidnappers, including Evans (the notorious Billionaire Kidnapper), ran away. Guess where Evans found refuge, in the state of the incumbent president! He doesn’t just know anything about security.
“Evans, who ran away from Anambra because of Obi’s security arrangement, lived among the elites in Lagos. Peter Obi is incomparable to any politician in Nigeria. I have always said it that Peter Obi is not an alternative option. He is the only option.”
Okonkwo was full of praises for the performance of the only LP governor in the country, Alex Otti of Abia State, and said his example of transformative leadership was worthy to be replicated in other states.
He predicted that LP was set to take over Nigeria starting with the next off-season gubernatorial elections in Edo and Anambra states.
