Enugu State has taken a major step toward becoming a digital services hub after signing a partnership with Humatrix Limited to establish a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre in the state.
The agreement, signed at Government House in Enugu, targets more than 100,000 jobs for young people over the next five years.
It also aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s push to diversify the state’s economy and attract private investment.
Why Humatrix Chose Enugu
Dr Dakuku Peterside, a director at Humatrix Limited, said the company picked Enugu after studying its investment climate and policy consistency.
“It was very easy for us to choose Enugu. Enugu is investing, and there is consistency. Most importantly, we have a supportive environment. These are core things any business would request to scale,” he said.
Peterside explained that operations will begin with a 750-seat BPO centre. The company plans to expand to over 2,000 seats within the first year.
He added that the initiative will go beyond direct employment by training young people in digital skills and connecting them to global companies seeking skilled talent.
The state government has already provided a building for the project’s take-off.
Targeting a $30 Billion Economy
Mr Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser to the Governor on MSME and Digital Economy, said the partnership supports Mbah’s vision of growing Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.
He explained that the Enugu Talent City Initiative is designed to attract global companies and let young people work for international clients from Enugu.
Chilo-Offiah disclosed that the state’s long-term ambition is to develop an outsourcing ecosystem with up to 300,000 seats by 2031.
Mbah: Young People Should Not Need to Japa
Governor Mbah said the partnership matches his administration’s commitment to helping young people build their futures in Enugu.
He disclosed that over 33% of the state’s expenditure goes to human capital development, covering education, skills acquisition and workforce preparation.
Mbah stressed that developing talent must go hand in hand with attracting companies that can employ that talent.
“We want the ‘japa’ where we can stay in Enugu and serve companies across the world, anywhere in the world,” the Governor said.
He described the initiative as a chance for young people to earn globally competitive incomes while living in their home state.

Wow! Finally! Some good news, please keep up the good work. The Enugu state government is really working
