Fresh Twist In P-Square Feud

The long-running dispute between the Okoye brothers has taken another turn, as singer Peter Okoye has claimed that his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, is trying to stop him from performing songs released under the P-Square brand.

Peter made the allegation in a video shared on his official social media page while responding to claims earlier made by Jude regarding the ownership of Psquare and the ongoing dispute over the group’s business affairs.

According to the singer, the fresh suit is separate from the ongoing case involving Northside Music and government authorities, insisting that he is only a witness in that matter.

Jude served me a letter. We just had the hearing recently. During the hearing, the first thing they wanted to do was stop me from performing Psquare songs,” he said.

Peter claimed that during the recent court proceedings, Jude, with the support of his twin brother Paul Okoye, sought an order to prevent him from performing Psquare songs.

He also rejected Jude’s claim that he was responsible for bringing Psquare to Lagos in 2005, arguing that the group had already built its career years before then.

In Jude’s claim, you said you brought Psquare to Lagos in 2005, so automatically that makes you the owner of Psquare. Psquare’s first album came out in 2003.

We’ve been singing for four to five years before that and even signed our first management contract.

Where were you then?” Peter said.

Peter further alleged that Jude was still in school at the time and insisted that the narrative being presented in court was inaccurate.

You said you brought us to Lagos. Jude, we brought you to Lagos. I sold my car and paid for our first house. I still have the receipts. You and Paul ran away when there was nothing. I stayed back. Now, all of a sudden, you own Psquare,” he added.

The singer’s comments come amid the prolonged dispute involving the Okoye brothers over the ownership and management of the Psquare brand, royalties and related business interests.

The latest allegations have generated fresh reactions online, although Jude Okoye has yet to publicly respond to Peter’s claims regarding the alleged court move to stop him from performing Psquare songs.
