PRP Denies Kwankwaso Takeover as ‘Laughable’ — And ‘Impossible’

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has rejected allegations that former Kano State governor and NNPP senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso purchased 69 of its nomination forms to seize control of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Secretary, Musa Maigari, dismissed the allegation on Monday, June 23, 2026, during a press interaction in Abuja.

The alleged claim had been made by one Abdulkadir Guza, who alleged that Kwankwaso bought the forms as part of a plan to take over the PRP’s internal structure before the next electoral cycle.

Maigari rejected the allegation entirely.

“As it stands, all positions in PRP have been filled. Primary elections are over, and every political party has concluded its primaries,” he said.

No Record, No Member, No Case

Maigari went further, pointing out that Guza himself has no affiliation with the PRP — which, he argued, makes the allegation doubly dubious.

“The man who raised these allegations is not even our member. It is laughable at this time, when primaries are over, someone is talking about primaries or nomination forms,” he said.

The secretary also confirmed that no record exists at the party secretariat of any nomination form transaction involving Kwankwaso or his representatives.

Kwankwaso, who governed Kano State between 1999 and 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015, founded the NNPP after leaving the PDP. He ran for president on the NNPP platform in 2023.

There is no public record of any current affiliation between him and the PRP.

As of Monday, Kwankwaso’s camp had not issued any response to the allegation.
