RCCG Defends Pastor Adeboye Against False Political Allegations

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has issued a strong defence of its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, rejecting what it described as false narratives about his views and actions.

The statement, released on Tuesday via the church’s official communication channels, said the church would no longer ignore misleading reports.

“The lies have gone on long enough. It stops now!!!”

“For far too long, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and The Redeemed Christian Church of God have been subjected to false narratives.”

RCCG said some reports about Adeboye’s positions on politics, governance, and national issues were inaccurate and not verified through official sources.

The church asked the public and media to rely only on statements issued through its recognised platforms.

Clarification On Politics And Public Statements

RCCG addressed claims that Adeboye had supported a political party or candidate, describing them as untrue.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye has always encouraged members… to get their PVCs and vote for anyone of their choice.”

“He has always maintained a neutral stance on political parties.”

The church also responded to reports that Adeboye cancelled a protest.

It said he only relayed guidance from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria on adjusting a nationwide prayer programme.

According to RCCG, the directive applied to all member churches under the PFN umbrella.

Call For Responsible Reporting

The church said Adeboye has spoken on key national issues over the years, including insecurity, corruption, and governance.

However, it explained that his approach focuses on moral guidance and prayer rather than direct political engagement.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye has, on several occasions, spoken about national issues.”

RCCG also called on journalists and bloggers to follow professional standards when reporting.

“Responsible journalism requires verification.”

“The public deserves the truth, not speculation.”

The church said it has designated official representatives to communicate its positions and urged the public to confirm information before sharing.

As one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal churches, RCCG has long played a visible role in national conversations.

The latest statement comes amid ongoing debate about the influence of religious leaders in Nigeria’s political and social space.

RCCG said it will continue to defend its integrity and ensure accurate representation of its leader and mission.
