The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has clarified its timetable for the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly primaries.
The party said the primaries will still hold nationwide on May 29, 2026, in line with its original May 28 and 29 schedule.
However, it said Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and the public holidays have created transport and logistics problems. As a result, many aspirants and members of the screening team are stranded in Abuja because flights are not available.
The party said May 28 will now be used for arrivals, documentation with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, as well as consultative meetings and final preparations.
It added that teams will also meet stakeholders, party elders and aspirants in their states on that day.
The party warned that no agency of the state, including the police, INEC or DSS, should take part in the May 28 meetings or programmes.
It said any activity outside the agreed plan would be unauthorized and illegal.
Primary Process And Results
On May 29, the party said the process will begin with presidential affirmation, followed by National Assembly primaries or affirmation.
That will be followed by state assembly primaries or affirmation and then governorship primaries or affirmation.
The party said the teams will collate results and send them to the national headquarters, where the National Working Committee will announce the outcome.
It also said no state executive or local team has the power to announce results.
The party called for calm and asked participants to behave responsibly, warning that it has zero tolerance for violence, disorderly conduct and hooliganism.
