Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar showered high praise on his former boss and ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo, for living a life of service and courage.
Atiku made the remarks in a statement on Thursday, March 5, to celebrate Obasanjo’s 89th birthday.
He described Obasanjo’s journey as remarkable and his contributions to Nigeria’s unity and progress as significant.
“As President Olusegun Obasanjo marks his 89th birthday, I celebrate a life that has been defined by service, courage, and an enduring commitment to Nigeria,” Atiku said.
He added that Obasanjo’s life reflects leadership and devotion to the Nigerian project.
“I pray that God continues to bless him with good health, strength, and many more years of impactful service to our nation and humanity,” he stated.
Atiku also extended warm wishes on behalf of his family. “On behalf of my family, I warmly felicitate with my former boss and a statesman whose life reflects the strength and beauty of Nigeria’s diversity,” he said.
Obasanjo, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as civilian president from 1999 to 2007, remains one of the country’s most influential leaders.
His 89th birthday celebration has drawn tributes from prominent personalities across Nigeria and abroad.
