Chris Okafor Withdraws Apology to Doris Ogala, Says He Was Under Pressure

Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has withdrawn an earlier apology he issued to actress Doris Ogala and other women he said he had “wronged.”

The pastor made the declaration during a recent church service. A video of the moment later circulated online.

The controversy began in December last year. At the time, Ogala publicly accused Okafor of using and abandoning her. The claims sparked intense debate on social media.

Soon after the accusations surfaced, Okafor issued a public apology. He also stepped aside temporarily from his leadership role in the church.

Weeks later, he returned to the pulpit. Members of his congregation welcomed him back with loud cheers.

However, during the recent service, the cleric announced that he was withdrawing the apology. According to him, the earlier statement was misunderstood.

He explained that he made the apology because respected church leaders connected to him were facing criticism over the matter.

“The reason why I came to apologise the last time was that the fathers of faith that stood by me were being dragged,” Okafor said.

He added that he wanted to protect their reputation.

“I didn’t want them to be dragged into it,” he said.

Okafor also insisted that he did not personally know some of the people linked to the accusations.

“For somebody I don’t know and somebody I have not met face to face, that apology is hereby withdrawn completely,” he said.

Pastor Says Apology Came Under Pressure

Okafor said several people around him encouraged him to issue the apology at the time. However, he later concluded that the advice was wrong.

“I was put under pressure by some people whom I call friends who are not really friends,” he said.

He explained that he initially accepted the suggestion because he wanted to shield respected church leaders from controversy.

“I knelt down because of those fathers and the church. Not because of any Jezebel anywhere,” he said.

The pastor also stated that apologizing could suggest that he admitted wrongdoing.

According to him, that interpretation was incorrect.

“I cannot apologise for what I did not do,” he said.

Okafor added that the dispute is already before a court. Therefore, he said he would allow the legal process to decide the matter.

“The matter is before the court. My evidence has been put before the court,” he said.

He invited anyone with proof to present it in court rather than on social media.

“Whoever claims to have evidence should bring it before the court,” he said.

The pastor concluded by saying he would not comment further until the case is decided.

“When the court decides, we will know what is true and who is lying,” he said.
