United States President Donald Trump confirmed Saturday that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 40 senior officials were killed in joint US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran.

Trump announced that members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were seeking immunity from the US.
He urged Iranians to “seize control of your destiny” and rise against the leadership that has ruled since 1979
In response, Iran launched attacks on US allies, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Syria.
The strikes forced eight countries to close their airspace, while Syria shut part of its southern airspace for 12 hours.
Reuters reported that much of the Middle East’s airspace was shut down, disrupting global travel.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead. This is justice for the people of Iran and many others worldwide.”
He said the strikes destroyed Iran’s leadership structure and would continue until peace is achieved.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also confirmed the attack, saying, “This morning, in a powerful surprise strike, the compound of the tyrant Ali Khamenei was destroyed in the heart of Tehran.”
Reports said more than 250 people were killed across Iran, including 85 after a strike hit a girls’ school.
Senior officials killed included Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, IRGC Commander Mohammad Pakpour, and top adviser Ali Shamkhani.
